Why Open a Business in Dayton’s Arcade or Downtown Dayton?
If you’re looking to relocate your company or open an additional location, consider doing so in a complex with several other businesses. The Arcade, a large-scale commercial project with a focus on innovation, inspiration, and the arts, is located in the heart of Dayton, OH, and offers a variety of opportunities for local companies. Here’s a look at why you should lease office or retail space in this historic building.
Your Guide to The Arcade for Business
History & Description
The Arcade is a building complex in Dayton’s central business district. This architecturally sophisticated structure was founded in 1904 and contains five buildings that interconnect. The property features a magnificent glass rotunda and two upper floors with encircling balconies, and it’s fully equipped with elevators, a cold storage plant, and a power plant.
The first businesses to open in this complex were a large food market along with retail shops and office spaces. Additionally, it included housing on the upper levels. Throughout the first half of the 20th century, it was a prime shopping destination. Since its restoration in the 1970s, The Arcade has expanded to include boutiques, restaurants, bookstores, food and kitchen wholesalers, and luggage retailers.
Development Project
Since the decline of the central business district in the 1980s and 1990s, the City of Dayton intends to use The Arcade as a way to create jobs and bring residents and visitors back to the downtown area. Cross Street Partners (CSP), Model Group, and McCormack Baron Salazar are in the process of redeveloping The Arcade to include nine buildings.
In keeping with tradition, it will house retail spaces, offices, event venues, and housing. Additionally, it will include an innovation center backed by the University of Dayton for artists and entrepreneurs to use for networking and sharing ideas.
Crest’s agents are not the leasing agents for the complex but we would like to help as many businesses as we can move downtown Dayton to strengthen its core as much as possible. We look forward to hearing from you.
